TalkForMe — Support
Helps bedridden or non-verbal elders "speak" their needs with a tap
TalkForMe is a communication-aid app: the user taps a phrase card and the phone speaks it aloud in Mandarin plus the caregiver's language — so people with Parkinson's, stroke, ALS, or who are intubated/bedridden can express needs right away.
FAQ
- How do I add or edit phrases?
- Press and hold the gear (top-right) for 2 seconds to open Settings → Phrases, where you can add, edit, and reorder. Each phrase can have a Mandarin and a caregiver-language version.
- How do I set the caregiver's language?
- In Settings, choose the caregiver's language (Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai, Malay, or English). Built-in phrases ship with translations, so each is spoken in Mandarin plus that language.
- What is the emergency button?
- The red "Emergency" button on the main screen plays a loud, repeating call-for-help full-screen, to bring someone nearby. It can be turned off in Settings.
- Will my data be lost? How do I back up?
- All phrases and settings are stored locally on your device. Use "Export backup" in Settings to save a file, and "Restore" to import it on a new device.
- What is the "tip jar"?
- A purely optional small contribution that helps us keep maintaining the app. No features are locked behind payment.
